I suppose this blog was inevitable.
I tried to find work writing for entertainment websites, but those jobs almost always overpromised, underpaid, or weren’t jobs at all. Deep down, I knew I would have to start my own—eventually.
Not counting my embarrassingly mid-tens Tumblr, this is my second proper attempt at blogging. The first was part of a high school English assignment. I managed 3 posts, one of which was just a project summary.
As a teenager, I was arguably more creative and less inhibited by grammatical paranoia, but I completely lacked the discipline to maintain a blog. I was also a slow-ass writer unless something really riled me up (such as my junior prom, which inspired—no joke—a 4,500-word essay/rant/confessional).
I’m still a slow-ass writer, but I’ve had years to practice compensating for my shortcomings. Furthermore, I’ve preemptively written several posts as a buffer against a delayed release schedule. This means I won’t be hitting on a lot of trending topics—at least, not trends started by other people.
You can expect a veritable potpourri of pop culture spanning decades and even centuries, along with some 10-dollar words, though I’ll try to avoid slipping into stereotypically nerdy levels of sesquipedalian loquaciousness. And yes, I’ll probably reference TVTropes with unhealthy frequency.
Welcome, enjoy your stay, and please come back soon!
